The New Mexico Nursing Excellence Awards recognize excellence in nursing practice and honor nurses for the contributions they make to their organizations, communities, and the state.  Created by nurses for nurses throughout New Mexico, the Nursing Excellence Awards have honored over 1,200 nurse nominees from around the state since its creation. Proceeds of the Nursing Excellence Awards supports the New Mexico Center for Nursing Excellence. (NMCNE). Awards There are 3 types of awards (nominations are closed): Nursing Excellence Awards recognize excellence in practice and leadership in 20 specialty categories plus the Distinguished Nurse of the Year Award. The Nursing Legend Award recognizes retired nurses who have made significant contributions to  the nursing profession.  The "Touch a Life" Award celebrates the special bond between patient and nurse. This award was created to give patients, families, and communities an opportunity to recognize a nurse that has touched their lives in a meaningful way.
